Our Focus
Gust Mediation focuses its services on the resolution of business and insurance disputes. We offer our services in connection with pending or threatened litigation, contract negotiations, organizational dysfunction, or any other conflict situation that might benefit from circumspect diplomacy and creative problem solving. Our mediators have substantial industry experience, are licensed attorneys, and Qualified Neutrals pursuant to the Minnesota Supreme Court requirements.

There is no single approach to successful mediation. At Gust Mediation Services, we try to assess the circumstances and develop an appropriate plan of action. While the foundation of our approach is negotiation-based shuttle diplomacy, we view our role as more than simply presiding over a blind auction. We can be facilitative or evaluative depending on the needs of the situation. Furthermore, we pride ourselves on our ability to help parties find solutions "outside the box."

Robert Gust
Bob is a 1981 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Colorado Business School and a 1984 cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. He practiced for many years at Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly before taking an interim in-house assignment with a client, founding the firm of Gust & Zerin, PLC, and then joining the plaintiffs` litigation boutique Dady & Garner, P.A. Having represented plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of business disputes, Bob decided to found Gust Mediation Services as a means of fully utilizing his skills and background.

Vern Gust
Vern is a 1954 graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law. Vern spent 45 years in the insurance industry, having started with Charles W. Sexton Company and continuing with Alexander & Alexander after it acquired the Sexton Company in 1970. Vern effectively acted as the intermediary between insurer and insured for 45 years, and is now offering those services to the public. Vern has devoted much of his spare time to public service, having been President of the Minneapolis Aquatennial and the Downtown Minneapolis Kiwanis Club and having served on the boards of the Minneapolis Athletic Club and Hazeltine National Golf Club.
