The main steps in the mediation process are as follows:
1. Listing the issues that need to be resolved.
2. Determining the issues of main importance to each person.
3. Gathering information needed to develop options for
resolution.
4. Formulating the options for resolution.
5. Choosing options and developing the overall plan of agreement.
6. Putting the agreement in writing.
7. Final review of the agreement terms (with separate attorneys) and signing.
